If you have an extremely odd angle that you cut on a regular basis, I will machine a detent bar to set your miter gauge to that specific angle. As an example: a seven-sided picture frame that requires a miter cut of 25.714°. With the gauge set at 25° the custom detent bar would add .714° allowing you to cut that specific angle of 25.714° accurately and with ease, with only seconds to set it up.
In the case of a compound miter, I also offer a custom detent bar that will set both angles: one detent for the blade tilt and one for your miter gauge. With this bar, the calculating is done for you.
To use:
1) Set your miter gauge to the angle of the blade tilt.
2) Using a straight piece of good true wood or MDF about 2 inches wide and 12 inches long cut one end to the blade tilt angle.
3) Reset your miter gauge to 00 with Miterset.
4) Be sure the power is disconnected during this step! Using your miter gauge to square the board to the fully raised blade, adjust the tilt until the angle matches that of your newly cut wooden gauge.
5) Reset your miter gauge to its required angle and you are ready to cut that compound miter all day long.
